Coming up is a new year and we're revamping our homeschool schedule. We tried to plan out each subject into time slots, but that was too rigid and too detailed and I couldn't pull it off in the real world we live in at our house. We've also tried no schedule and that doesn't work. No schedule = hit & miss work getting done. So, our new system is this:
7:45 - Kiddos get up and get dressed
8:00 - 9:00 Bible Block - this will be character training and Bible study. We'll read the Bible together and do read-aloud time together. Kids can eat breakfast while I read.
9:00 - 11:30 Basics Block - Math, IEW, Spelling, Handwriting, Grammar, Literature for the olders, PRE-K time with Mommy for little one. I may try doing this in sections so that there are blocks of time available for the olders to have one on one time with me, too, if they need it.
11:30-12:30 Lunch/Chores/Free time - Eat lunch together, clean up, do chores then free time if we get done quickly enough
12:30-3:00 Science/Social Studies Block - Anatomy and Geography during this time with the olders. Little one can join us or go play, I'll provide independent work boxes for her, too.
We'll see how it goes...
